Where to Stay in Nashik for the Kumbh Mela 2027

From hotels in the city to dharamshalas beside the ghats and tented camps built for the Mela — here's how to pick the right base, and why booking early matters more than anything.

During the Kumbh, Nashik hosts far more visitors than it does on an ordinary day, and rooms near the river get booked out months in advance. The right place to stay depends on three things: which ghat you're bathing at, who you're travelling with, and your budget. Let's break it down.

Best areas to stay

Where you stay decides how far you walk on a bath day. The main options:

  • Panchavati (near Ramkund) — the heart of the Nashik Kumbh, walking distance to the main ghat. Most convenient for the Snan, but the most in-demand and the busiest.
  • Nashik city centre / College Road / Gangapur Road — more hotels and better comfort, a short drive from the ghats. A good balance for families.
  • Near Nashik Road railway station — handy if you're arriving by train and want to settle quickly.
  • Trimbakeshwar — stay here if your focus is the Jyotirlinga and the Trimbak Snan. Quieter, smaller, and fills up just as fast on its bathing days.

Types of accommodation

Hotels (budget to premium)Families, comfort-seekersBest amenities; book early for anything near the ghats.
Dharamshalas & ashramsPilgrims on a budgetSimple, devotional, close to temples. Basic facilities.
Tented campsThe full Kumbh experienceSet up specially for the Mela, often near the grounds. Comfort varies.
Homestays & guesthousesSmall groups, longer staysHomely and personal; limited rooms, so reserve ahead.
Book early — this is the one that bites people. The closer the Shahi Snan dates get, the scarcer and pricier rooms near the ghats become. Many pilgrims who wait end up staying far out and commuting in. Reserve as soon as your dates are fixed.

How to choose the right stay

  1. Start from your Snan day. Pick a base that keeps the walk to your ghat short, especially with elders or children.
  2. Be realistic about comfort. The closest options aren't always the most comfortable. Sometimes a hotel a short drive away beats a basic room next to the ghat.
  3. Check what's included. Meals, hot water and clean washrooms matter more during a crowded Mela than at any other time.
  4. Confirm the cancellation terms before you pay, since plans can shift with the dates.

How we help with your stay

Because we're in Nashik, we keep track of which places are genuinely good, where the value is, and what's still available as the dates approach. We don't list random hotels here — we'd rather recommend the right one for your group once we know your dates and budget. Tell us how many of you there are and when you're coming, and we'll shortlist checked options and hold a booking for you.

Don't get stuck staying an hour away.

Rooms near the ghats go first. Tell us your dates and we'll hold a checked stay close to your Snan before they're gone.
