What the Simhastha actually is

Every twelve years, when Jupiter (Guru) enters Leo — Simha rashi — the Godavari at Nashik draws the akharas, sadhus and millions of pilgrims for the holy bath. The last Nashik Simhastha was in 2015. The next one is 2027, and the city has already started preparing for it.

  • Clear directions to Ramkund, Trimbakeshwar and the bathing ghats

Frequently asked questions

When exactly is the Nashik Kumbh Mela 2027?

The Mela runs from July to September 2027, opening with the Dhwajarohan (flag hoisting) on 31 October 2026. The three Shahi Snan days are 2 August, 31 August and 11–12 September 2027. See our full Shahi Snan dates guide for details. (Dates as widely reported; final confirmation rests with the Government of Maharashtra's Simhastha Committee.)

What's the difference between the Nashik and Trimbakeshwar Kumbh?

The Simhastha happens at two linked places. One is Ramkund in Nashik, on the Godavari. The other is Trimbakeshwar, about 28 km away, where the Godavari begins and a Jyotirlinga sits. A lot of pilgrims visit both.

How do I reach Nashik for the Kumbh?

Nashik is well connected by road and rail. It's roughly 165 km from Mumbai and 210 km from Pune. The nearest airports are Mumbai and Nashik's own at Ozar. Our travel guide goes into routes, timings and how transport works during the Mela.

Can you arrange stay and tours for my family?

Yes, that's the main thing we do. Send your dates and group size through the form below and we'll come back with a plan: a checked stay, transport, a guide, and help at the Snan.

Is this an official website?

No. We're an independent guide and travel-assistance service for pilgrims. For official notices always check the government Mela authority as well. We link to and summarise those announcements here when they come out.
